“The Importance of Good Sportsmanship”

By definition sportsmanship is fairness in following the rules of a game. Good sportsmanship shows ones true character. Some examples of good sportsmanship would be congratulating your opponent on their victory, playing by the rules, not getting angry if losing, no cheating. When you show good sportsmanship you will show your character and people will admire you for it rather than being seen as a fool for getting very angry and not respecting the fact that you lost. No one wants to play with someone who has bad sportsmanship that always wants to win and gets angry when they don’t. For example when my nephew was smaller he always liked to race me up the stairs if I didn’t let him win he would start crying and throw this huge tantrum. Another example is my little niece whenever we are all playing hide and go seek and we tag her she gets very upset and starts saying that it I s not fair, that there should be a do over. To this day I will not play with my niece because anything anyone does when we are playing a game they will get upset and after a while the game just isn’t fun anymore. That goes to show that you need good sportsmanship for people to want to play with you because if you don’t everyone will probably want to stay away from you, and you will be seen as the annoying one. When someone has good sportsmanship they are fair players and they can take a loss but they will come back to try their best again. When having good sportsmanship people will really look up to you for it because they see that you are a great person to have a good game with. When you play fair you also feel good about yourself, knowing that you played your best but in the end the better man won.
